Enrollment for Religious Education: 2026-2027

Dear Parents,

This year, we are excited to roll out Pathways Faith Formation which is a program meant for the entire family. We are excited to have families learn anew the Gospel message through age-appropriate lessons held at the Church and with opportunities to work together at home.

Students and parents will attend on campus sessions at the Church over the course of the year. When not attending on campus sessions, parents and students will work on at home retreats and mini lessons as part of family meetings.

Pathways Faith Formation helps each member of the family to have an encounter with Jesus Christ through engaging lessons and through community by participating in Small Groups. Parents attend concurrent lessons while their children are in their on campus sessions with their grade level. The entire family is learning the same topic weekly. Sessions are designed for Kindergarten through 8th grade students and a parent.

More information can be found here:  https://www.fflcm.org/home

All families (except those with 2nd grade students) will be participating in Seek and Root lessons with second grade families participating in Seek, Mend and Nourish.

Each family is asked to pick a time to attend on campus sessions (unless you have a child in second grade who is preparing for First Holy Communion, then see below). Only one parent is required to attend the sessions, but both parents may if they wish. Once you select your session, you’ll need to stay in that session time.

9:00-10:30 AM Session A

10:45-12:15 AM Session B

On Campus Sessions will be held on the following Sundays:

September 13, Sept. 27, October 4, Oct. 18, Oct. 25, November 8, December 6, January 10, February 7, Feb. 28, April 4, May 2 .

Starting in November, families will begin at home formation in between on campus sessions. These can be done at any time during the time period given. More information will be made available at the first on campus sessions.

Families with Students in 2nd grade preparing for First Holy Communion will attend on campus sessions from 9:00-10:30 AM on the following Sundays:

September 13, 27 October 4, 18 and 25

Special First Communion Sessions will be held from 12:30-2 pm on the following dates:

November 15, January 3, February 7, First Penance on 2/21, February 28, March 14, April 11 and First Communion will be on May 8, 2027, at 11 AM.

***Only 2nd grade students and a parent are required to attend the on campus sessions after October 25, but families should work together at home on the First Communion materials.

This year, there is no option for students to learn solely from home.

Please contact Emily Teter with any questions you may have: eteter@saintlukemclean.org or 703-356-8419.

We will be hosting information sessions in the coming weeks as well as having information available after Masses in the narthex.

Enrollment can be found here:

Sessions begin on September 13 (Sunday Sessions) and September 14 (Monday Sessions)

Enrollment is open to all children of registered, active parish members.
A copy of each child’s Birth Certificate and Baptism Certificate must accompany your enrollment form or be on file.

All new families must mail, e-mail or add to their enrollment form, a copy of their child(ren)’s birth certificate and baptismal certificate before enrollment is complete.

Each family is asked to volunteer to assist with Religious Education throughout the year. Please check the ways you are willing to assist on your Enrollment form. If you are volunteering to work with children (catechetical facilitators, assistant facilitators, substitute catechists and hall monitors), you will need to comply with the Diocesan Policy for Volunteers, read and sign a Code of Conduct, and attend the Safe Environment Program: VIRTUS training session. Please contact Page Slusser or Emily Teter to get volunteer. Volunteer hours will correspond with your child’s participation in the program as much as possible (e.g. you will teach during the session time your child is in class).

Diocese of Arlington Religious Education Standards for Learning

Your child will be placed in a session when we receive a completed enrollment form, copy of your child(ren)’s Baptism Certificate and payment. Completed enrollments are processed on a first received basis.

Please contact the office Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. The office phone number is 703-356-8419 or pslusser@saintlukemclean.org.

Remember that while Religious Education may help in building a child’s Faith foundation, the best way to teach your child(ren) about our Faith and establish their lifelong love of God is by bringing them with you to Mass.

Daily Masses: Monday – Friday 6:45 am, 9:00 am. Saturday: 9:00 am, Vigil Mass 5:30 pm.
Sunday: 7:30 am, 9:00 am, 11:00 am.

Confessions: Saturday 4:00 – 5:00 pm and Fridays from 9:30-10 am.
