Share Food Pantry Collection
At the church entrances we keep white wooden bins where parishioners may drop off non-perishable food items at any time. These items are then taken to the Share Food Pantry in McLean. People living in our area who need food assistance can register with Share to “shop” at the pantry on a weekly basis.
Share also gives furniture to newly situated immigrants in our area. If you would like to donate gently used to furniture to this program you can get information and request a pickup at shareofmclean.org/furniture.
St. Lucy Project Food Drives
Twice a year (spring and autumn) our parish and school hold a Food Drive to benefit Catholic Charities’ St. Lucy Food Project. Our Knights of Columbus are the liaison with Catholic Charities and distribute tote bags to parishioners to be filled with non-perishable items and returned to the parish. The Knights are on hand the day of the pickup by St. Lucy Project to accept bag drop off and help load the truck.
The parishioners at Saint Luke are very generous in helping those in need through our food drives and other events such as coat and personal hygiene drives. It is wonderful to see the participation enthusiasm for giving.
